Vision Transportation Group is proposing the implementation of the No.2 urban railway project connecting Noi Bai airport to the West Lake area.

Before this proposal, Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung asked VTG to work specifically with Hanoi, ministries and branches of Vietnam before the detailed report to the Government.

Regarding the mode and source of investment capital, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Hanoi People’s Committee to call for investment in urban railways in the form of public-private partnerships (PPP), in line with the direction of the Prime Minister. The authority to decide on the investment policy of the project shall be implemented in accordance with the Law on Public Investment and the Law on Investment.
Hanoi Urban Railway Project consists of 8 lines with a total length of about 318 km and a branch line. The project will commence operation in 2018 with the first service of 2A – Cat Linh – Ha Dong, followed by the third, Nhon – Hanoi railway lines; Line 1, section Ngoc Hoi – Yen Vien and line 2, section Nam Thang Long – Tran Hung Dao – Thuong Dinh.
